    Default Train to Yamesee......

10 February 1958...How can I forget....stepped off a train and it began. Then bus over the causeway in a rain and wind blowing the palm trees sideways, with frogs in the headlights leaping outta the way. Zero dark thirty breakfast in the mess hall and it began.

Just wanna share my beginning wearing the Eagle, Globe and Anchor with all Marines on here and maybe some body else was with 2nd Bn, Platoon 225 or on the Island at that time. Semper Fi! devildog

$ August 1961. Got there about 22:00. Stepped off the train with a cig stuck in my mouth which I found was a severe error on my part. Guess who had fire watch first. Next morning he took us to breakfast across the tracks to a greasy ( very greasy ) spoon joint .

Seems like all military stints start in the middle of the night with little or no sleep to start your day.
