Thread: How can I..?

    Default How can I..?

O.K., I placed a bunch of ammo from boxes to baggies (20 rd size). Of course, now some time has passed and I can't 'member if it is .223 or .556...Head stamp is TZ (Israeli). How can I determine what it is now? Any help? Thanks.

Head stamp pages just tell me what TZ is......

If it's not green tip then it most likely is 55 gr. FMJ. So what is the date on it? Call it 5.56 and you should be OK.

You can buy baggies with a white space that can be written on with a ball point. Too late now but next time?

You can buy a role of masking tape.
The only difference is the pressure and the chamber throat. Before there was an internet millions of rounds were fired interchangeably with no fuss. It's highly unlikely any commercial hunting rifle will be bothered by shooting either.
However, TZ is IMI. Even the non-green ball round is 5.56NATO.
    Spelling and grammar count!

    Now, now don't get testical!

By the way, this is why they recommend you do not take ammo out of original boxes!

5.56. If your chamber is .223 then manufacturers say don't shoot 5.56. Got some 5.56 mixed in with .223 when shooting a .223 700p. It went bang but group size went from inch to about four inches.

Different rolls have specific roles. It's a matter of semantics. I notice mostly senior members make these kinds of comments!
