    Default WW2 Semi-Auto SMLE prototype

    Greetings:

Don't really read much here, but on reading my various gun blogs tonite. Forgotten Weapons and The Firearm Blog sites, have a video clip on a prototype SMLE semi-auto conversion up for sale at Rock Island Auctions in Maine.

It's history is described, and mostly broken down (evidently Ian couldn't figure out the full takedown) , and the action is discussed.

Thanks for the heads-up, Richard. An interesting prototype! Here's the link for those who might be interested: http://www.forgottenweapons.com/turn...version-video/

The pre-auction estimate is $10K-$20K ... hmmmm, a bit beyond my hobby budget!

(BTW, I'm sure you mis-typed but the Rock Island Auction Company is in Ill'noise. The big auction company in Maine is James D. Julia.)
