Ok, but it has a number in the 24,000 on it? Any idea about what year my gun was made.
    Thanks

    Schoolbd,

Is it a 24,000 or a 27,000 (from post #1) serial number? In my opinion there really is no reason not to post the full serial. Around 18,000 Model 620s were delivered to the US government and most (16,000) were made between March 1942 and June 1944 (serials 17,000-33,000) with the first trench guns being delivered in February 1943. There are no records to give exact production dates but you can make a guess based on that production range.

Sounds like the magazine locking lug is a replacement from an earlier Model 520 or Model 620, the serial number was commonly applied on those and they interchange. Your trench gun although called and marked as a Model 620, is actually Model 620A.

James serial is 27459, the mag lock was 244?? Can't remember the full no. and don't want to pull it back apart.

Also the butt swivel area had been filled in ,I was lucky to get that piece out without any stock damage ,before and after photo 20161101_184310.jpg20161102_192031.jpg

I have yet to find a Model 620A (or a military Model 620) with a serial number stamped on the mag locking lug, not saying it couldn't happen but you do see that on Model 520s from 1909 into the early 1930s and on early Model 620s from 1927 into the 1930s. Many of these earlier guns have the serial, or part of it, stamped on most of the parts. They strip out and get replaced.

Good job getting the patch out of the buttstock. Finding an original sling swivel may take some time. East Taylor LLC makes some replacement Stevens trench gun parts: http://www.partsforantiqueguns.com/Stevens_trench.html

But the sling swivel offered on their Stevens page is a Winchester style and will not fit the cut out for the flat metal plate style of the Stevens piece. Maybe someone else here has a source for an accurate reproduction. Other than that I'd keep an eye on eBay and Gun Broker. I've seen a couple parts kits from destroyed/de-milled Stevens trench guns come up for sale in the past year.

Have purchased a few products from east taylor, they seem to have good products but can not match the originals, I think the original 1903 springfield butt stock swivel will work for the trenchgun.

The checkered wood forearm is probably not correct for a late production 620 trench gun. Those are usually found on the earlier made 620 Military riot guns.
