Underwood used Marlin made stock in all three types. An I cut would have been used early in production. The type 2 was used from summer 1943 to late in 1943 and then the type 3 to the end of production. A flatter bottom would not have been normal but considering how many stocks Marlin made a few may have had a contour that seemed to be flatter then normal. But no where as flat as a Winchester stock would have been.
