Default Ammo that's safe in M1873 45-70 Trapdoor

I have an 1885 M1873 Springfield 45-70 Trapdoor. I have a box of the following ammo and would like to know if they are safe to shoot in this rifle:

    Mfd. by Goex
Black Dawge Traditional Black Powder Ammunition
    45-70 350 Gr.
    Black Powder RNFP

Goex is black powder so it will be fine for your trapdoor.

Also, if buying ammo make sure the box does not say "for modern firearms only". I reload all my 45-70 ammo using Goex BP. SOFT lead bullets of 405gr. and 500gr. The 500gr. bullet over 70gr. BP will knock your shoulder outa whack in a short time. 8-)

I can shoot 100 BP rds with 500 gr bullets with no shoulder issues. I put a customized butt cover over it with a cut-down recoil pad. Works great!
You can barely see the recoil pad in this picture.

"...The 500gr. bullet over 70gr. BP will knock your shoulder outa..." So will 405's out of a TrapDoor Carbine. And that 70 grains is by volume not weight.
Oh and nearly all factory ammo is loaded to BP velocities for this very reason. All the antiques out there. Except, of course, for the stuff labelled as "For Modern Rifles Only."

    I like your custom leather!

    ^^
Whyte leather works. About $45 for that cover. Nothing fancy.
