    Default Tracking Info on 03-A3s?

Does anyone know if there was a system similar to Springfield Research Service (SRS) that tracked the activity of Remington or Smith Corona 03-A3 rifles from the WW2 era? If yes, is there any info on a Remington Model 03-A3 with Serial Number 3,726,871? No rebuild marks, only factory marks.

SRS recorded information on virtually all U.S. military weapons. It was not as much tracking them as it was recording information as records were found. There are a few serial numbers for the 03-A3 in SRS, but probably just not a lot of activity as there was in the case of the 1903 rifles.

With your rifle having no rebuild markings chances are that it may have been fairly static during it's tenure in the U.S. military.

Redstone Arsenal has the post WW2 sales records. It may be found there, but will require a FOIA request. Extremely lengthy process. Those records may still be sealed since the buyer may still be alive.
