    Default FN 8mm Mauser green tip

    Sorry for the bad pictures. I'm not a very good photographer.
    I have 3 stripper clips of this FN 8mm ammo and would like to know what the green tip indicates.
    In case you can't see it in the picture the head-stamp is:
    FN
    38
    U
    The primer and bullet sealer is green and so is the bullet tip. the bullet is a FMJ nickel and is heavily crimped.
    I've never seen a green tip like this before, has anyone here?

    1938 FN made tracer round if I remember right.

    If my old failing memory is right I think green tips are just standard ball BUT the green primer should give you pause...

    There are some rounds out there with green primers that were "proof" rounds loaded 1.5X the standard. Those had laquered steel cases.
