    Default 762x54R

Does anyone know what the silver painted tips on Russian 762x54R designate? It looks like Standard ball ammo, a FMJ open lead base bullet, copper washed cases, berdan primed. But why would they bother to paint a standard ball round???

I think it designates heavy ball. Yellow some other weight, light I think.
