Most AR-15 upper receivers assemblies only require a few changes to convert to a different caliber. In the 6.8 SPC the barrel and bolt are the only difference between it and a similar 5.56 upper. The ejection port needs to be enlarged for the .458 SOCOM and .50 Beowulf otherwise the AR15 upper receiver can be used for .20 to .50 caliber rifles using the same lower receiver. Most of the stripped lower receivers are marked "Multi Cal".

    good answer.
    so
    WHO has done this?
    and did you like it?
    How accurate it it?
how difficult is it to get reloading components for?
    etc.

    I have an 6.8 upper.
Switch like normal and done. The mags are the only issue.
Shoots as accurate as a 5.56.
My wife used it to hunt last year- took a nice buck.

Reloading: Brass is sort of hard to find. I just use the factory brass I shoot. It's Large primer. Some brass is SR. Take your pick if there is an issue and if you want one or the other.

Overall very happy. Good round. Good bullet choices.

6.8 is good, but if you are doing a build you might consider the 6.5 Grendel

Certainly not knocking the 6.5 Grendel but that information/ thread is awfully dated.

IE. The use of SPEC II chambers.

Not to mention the OP in the link making statements that are not in the table he quoted.

Still.............. For the OP here, I'm very happy with the 6.8 and, if I ever get some free time, look for forward to shooting a lot more.

Currently in construction of one. My cousin owns the Wild River Ranch near Goliad (sorry not shilling the ranch, but if interested Google it)and he runs a guide service featuring deer and wild pig hunts his caliber of choice is 6.8 spc from what I've seen it's highly effective on Texas game and in Texas terrain including theoretically in urban environments. I'm building my 6.8 to be my modern SHTF, deer hunt, pig hunt, plink gun.
