    Default Case, cleaning rod

I have a rod case marked: CASE, CLEANING ROD, M1 C6573 P.M.&S.CO. 1941 Not too sure on the date but that's what I make of it.

Is this for a joined M1 rifle cleaning rod? Does the M1 mean rifle or just a model number for the case? Has three "pockets" and one full width short one, flap closer with strap & buckle. .50 caliber MG rod?

    Thank you!

    I believe it held a T-handled multi-piece .30 caliber cleaning rod.
