    Default Winchester 97 on Gunbroker

Would like to know what the experts think on this shotgun? My knowledge is mainly on the M1 rifle and Carbine so I'm unsure on trench guns but would like to add one to the collection.

    Thanks

The pictures are a little dark, but nothing jumps out at me to say "not real". Looks correct, but the dark pictures and the inability to see it in person hold me back from making any pronouncement.

Just looked up the serial number and from what I found serial # 932XXX says mfg. in 1947 not 1941. Am I missing something here or is the listing wrong?

You are missing something. The Maadis book is wrong on 97 serial numbers, it is a 1941 or 1942 gun.

Yes, the Madis book and most of the other published production tables on these guns are incorrect, particularly for the WW2 years.

Serial # E932xxx was made in 1942. The trench guns in that serial number range are often found with '41 dated barrels.

    Thanks gentlemen, appreciate the info.

At first glance it looks good, but the heavily buggered screws on the adaptor give me pause...
