Thanks for the help! It just took more force on the windage knob. I was able to get the sight off the gun. Now a clean and lube and put it back together!

Actually, not all of the information is correct. On the older windage adjustments the collar and spring could be slid down the shaft to expose a cross pin (very small like the front sight blade pin) on the shoulder of the knob. Drive the pin out and the knob comes off the spindle. If this is what you have it might be best to replace it with date correct style. Some had smaller knobs that were hard to turn. If you insist on reusing that one PM me for parts.
