    Had my 4" since 1980. The 41 Magnum is a reloader's dream.

Mine is a 6". Wanted stainless but it's not offered anymore. Also ordered a machine engraved model 29 but no idea when I'll get that. S&W used to offer laser engraved, machine engeaved and hand engraved. Now they only do machine and hand engraved. I have a engraved Colt "King Cobra" but I don't shoot it, just for looking at it.

well I'll be. I didn't know that they'd dropped the manufacture of the model 657 joem.............. if you really want one, check over at the S&Wforums.com , register there & look for one on the WTS board....... or post an ad for one on the WTB ............it is another first class set of boards, devoted to discussing & collecting S&W's. Again that little .41 mag is a first class self defense gun.................

Why do you consider the 41 mag to be a reloaders dream? Just curious.

heck shooting a friend's little S&W mod 57, .41mag, (wearing some nice Roper grips), is flat out fun to shoot, even over extended shooting sessions with more than warm self defense & hunting loads........that S&W N frame, coupled with good grips, just soaks up recoil & muzzle flip. Even with heavy hand loads...... it kicks way less than a 2 1/2" barreled .357 mag with more than warm, duty loads...

Other than the limited selection of bullets, it has always been easy to reload for me, and accurate. Started out using 8 grains of Unique, cut it back to 7.5 when I realized I was getting some unburned grains left over. Carbide dies with that straight walled case...it was 10 years before I fired factory loads out of mine.

I was using AA # 2 with SWC but changed to AA # 9 and SWC. I'm working on getting the load just right.

try Unique joem....... it meters extremely well thru our old RCBS powder thrower and our Dillon 550............plus gives great velocities with no excess pressure signs with more than warm loads.......... as with any charges........ work your way up slowly , using any powder. I've never used any AA powders....... yet.

Good thread, Back in 77 or 78 I really wanted a Dirty Harry S&W 29, I was like 18 years old. (I did get one but that is a long storey, and a night sleeping on my dealers door step waiting for a sale to start on Saturday morning, he had 2 6" S&W 29's to sell, I still have mine!

Anyway, about the same time I got a new S&W 4" M57. I have shot it a few times, But I think it is time it goes to a better home. I am addicted to the 44 Mag and my 45 ACP's

Will be posted soon in WTS ads.
