    hello all am new to the this form Iam looking at getting a M1 carbine universal and I was woundeing if they are just as good as the real ones I havw heard some bad things about them but I also heard alot of good things if you all could help I would be very greatful,

    Universals are known for being poor quality and few parts interchange with GI models so if you need a part you may be in trouble. I steer clear of Universal's, especially the twin spring models.

    Save your money and put it towards an original. Just don't buy the first one you see, lots of shot out ones out there.

    A guy at the club has or had one that wouldn't chamber and fire a round every time, stove pipes, jams, FTE and FTC. He paid $600.00 and I think he is stuck with it. I wouldn't touch one with a 20 foot pole.
