    Default M14 safety question

On my OM/Winchester M14 trigger group the safety is marked with a K what does the K designate? Thanks

I believe that it is a sub-contractors mark.(although I haven't a clue who that might be.) Similar to the "F" marked safety in IHC garands. I could be wrong and probably am but that is what I think. I don't have any of the M14 books so I would like one of the residents, who have more knowledge to chime in! No help, I know. GB in WY

Thanks GB, part of what I am doing is trying to determine if this complete trigger group is all Winchester and then figure out if I want to sell it. If I do sell it I have to find out what they would be worth so i can put a fair price on it. Thanks again.

K8 safeties are correct for Winchester M14s. It's thought that they are made by Killeen Machine Tool Company.

Thanks Ted, I can see the K but not the 8, I don't want to dis-assemble the unit.
