    Default Question on Fitting

Will a 1896 Krag barreled receiver fit into a 1897 stock? I was asked this and did not know if there was a difference between the two.

An 1897 dated stock would have been for the 1896 rifle...
    So... Yes, it will fit.

I think the Model 1896 was still being produced in 1897. What incompatibility do you imagine?

In any case, cursory examination of the area surrounding the bolt handle root will reveal if the stock will fit the '96 receiver. If not, it's still possible for a competent woodworker to modify as needed.
