    Default p14 22 trainer

I tried to find information on 22 trainers made out of P14 rifles. I can't find any info. Did they actually make one or did bubba. What would one in decent shape be worth. If official was this done in WWI or WWII. Thanks.

Deleted previous post due to a brain fart on my part. There are three P14 trainers. 1.) Rifle, Short, .22-inch, RF, Pattern 1914 (No.1); 2.) Rifle, Short, .22-inch, RF, Pattern 1914 (No.2); 3.) Rifle, Long, .22-inch, RF, Pattern 1914.

There is an official .22 called the Pattern 1914 but it's not based on Pattern 14 rifle. You can see it here:

I'm not familiar with a government conversion of the P14 to rimfire but they do exist in the private sector. Definitely not Bubba's handiwork either!
The links Oldyela always salts around here going over to the other board, this time are about 303 target conversions. Nice to look at but not what you were asking about.

Thanks but the guy I bought the No 5 and No 4 rifle off of has a 22 built out of a P14 Era. So if I understand what you guys are saying it would be a commercial job and not British Government sanctioned. I know just enough about Enfields to be dangerous, but I was sure I had never heard of Tommy making trainers out of P14s.

I had asked to see his trainers. He pointed to a rack with 8 rifles in it. The first was the P14. The second was a Lithgow No 1 (1916 build date I believe) The rest were Lithgow No 1 Mark IIIs( all WwII build dates) All these rifles were still 303s except for the P14.

When I pointed out that there was only one trainer in the rack he said he'd have to figure out where he put them. One day that will be me:-)

I said I wasn't familiar with them. Meaning I haven't seen one yet. I know enough to know I don't know everything!

I just ordered and received a copy of "British .22RF Training Rifles" by Lewis & Washburn. I got it from Amazon as a used book, cost was $3.25 & $2.65 shipping. Lots of info.

Maybe I'll see if he will let me take pictures. This is the first one I've seen. But I've only been around the world once.
