    Default Price alert 22LR ammo

Went to a gun show today in lower Alabama looking for some 22 shot cartridges. I figured I might have a chance since they aren't in much demand. No such luck, one dealer told me that the ammo companies are producing 22LR ammo at full bore and shot, longs, shorts and CB's are on back burner so they can concentrate on what is most sought after. I saw bricks on several tables at the $95 and $100 price range but at one table they were $65 and the best price was $55 for the Remington Thunderbolt (550 rds loose I believe). Fortunately for me I bought plenty years ago for <$10 a brick but it looks like the prices may be starting to come down. Maybe soon we will start to see them on the shelves again.

Like you I bought several cases of 22LR years ago. I never thought it would be almost impossible to buy.

The days of a $1.00 a box or $3.00 a box for .22 is now gone forever. The prices now are double the $3 mark and is becoming the new standard for .22 rimfire. The profit margin for .22 rimfire has always been low compared to center fire ammo. That is now changing so if one wants .22 then you will pay the $6 a box price.

A good price and that might become the new "normal" when things settle out. I too don't believe we will ever see 22LR bricks for $10 again.

I have said this since the 2nd shortage began. I believe the new normal for 500 rounds will be around $30-$35 with sales at $25. The last time it went from $6-$10 up to $18-$20. Even then I couldn't pay those prices. I certainly am not buying for $25. I'm well stocked on .22's

right before the craziness in ammo prices occurred......... We'd taken one of the grandkids & a friend out shooting a couple of .22 rifles & pistols one nice Sunday afternoon........ Heck he & a friend went thru 2 bricks of .22's in about 3 hours of shooting............So when I went to a local farm supply store , Orschlen's, the next day, I saw two bricks on the counter where they put stuff for impulse buys......... I got them both for $17.95 each & the next day I picked up another brick at WallyWorld for $19.95..........and the boss kidded me about stocking up for WWIII in advance.................. & I reminded her about the kids shooting .22's.......... about two weeks or so later, the SHTF & we haven't seen bricks for sale around here since......................if they ever return to those prices, I'll be very happy.
