    Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding a JMG marked 1917. Thank you!

    So what you are searching for is a Colt 1917 with JMG inspectors stamp from about serial number 29,700 to about 64,000 the mark of Colonel John M. Gilbert (JMG) is this right ? I think some may have not known what you were seeking.

    That's exactly the way I should have stated it! I'd like to match a JMG marked 1911. Thank you for clarifying.

    just look like scratches...... ... the grips weren't numbered to matched the numbers on the butt........ matched the numbers on the inside of frame under the crane..... accident or embellishment... who knows...........
