    Default 45acp bullet mold question

I noticed that Lee has a 200gr .450 mold out for the 45acp. I thought the sizer die was .450 or .451. Most molds I see for this caliber is .452. Any input on this? Do you suppose the .450 is not intended to be run through the sizer die?

Here are listings from Lee's website for the three .45 caliber 200-grain molds currently cataloged. Note the nominal diameter is .452" for all three. Where did you see a .450" mold offered?

    MOLD DC 452-200 RF
Lee Double Cavity Mold produces a .452 diameter 200 grain round nose bullet suitable for cartridges like 45 ACP, 45 Colt. Handles included.

    MOLD DC H&G 68 200 SWC
Lee Double Cavity Mold produces a .452 diameter 200 grain Semi Wad Cutter nose bullet suitable for cartridges like 45 ACP, 45 Colt, etc. Handles included.

    MOLD DC TL452-200SWC
Lee Double Cavity Mold produces a .452 diameter 200 grain Semi Wad Cutter nose bullet suitable for cartridges like 45 ACP, 45 Colt, etc. Handles included.

In actual practice, as-cast diameter can vary considerably with alloy, temperature, and technique. If bullets cast consistently under desired size, a different alloy (usually with more antimony) will often produce greater diameter.

The mold at that link is intended for Black Powder Revolvers, produceing a .450 diameter, 200 grain round nose bullet for .44 Remington Caliber. See this link for more info on it: https://fsreloading.com/lee-precisio...-1r-90382.html

I would not use that mold for 45ACP if it is .450; you would want to look for .452 in the list Parashooter posted.
