7 mil WRA porn

Here's my 7.2 WRA. This was a local gunshop buy from 2010, paid $750 according to my records. I replaced the slide with the one shown and just put the wood on it last week. I believe it is an import as there is a small flat spot on the bottom of the barrel that looks filed down. For the price and being a 7 mil I didn't let it bother me.

I was wondering about the milled sight, everything I read on these says stamped but it appears original looking at the stake marks.

The band is not a C marked one but I believe it is WRA. It was discussed back when I got it that not all WRA T3 bands were marked.

I'm curious about the safety and mag catch. I have no history of where the rifle came from or who owned it before me so I don't know if their original/real or not. Opinions?

Veyr nice looking WRA carbine. The front sight is correct and does not appear to have been removed, so I would say the barrel band is original. The rear sight looks fine too. It's my understanding that both milled and stamped sights were being used at the time your carbine was manufactured.

The safety and magazine catch should be marked. EW for the safety and W for the magazine release. The type 2 rear sight is correct. What are the markings on the slide that you put on it? It's a very nice example of end of production carbine from about August 1945.

The safety is marked EW but I think it's a fake. I have this posted over on CMP as well and the guys there feel it is.
The mag catch is marked W and seems to be real
I've been told the hammer is a White, not WRA, I'll be working on that.
The slide is marked 7160091, did WRA use the modified ones on these?

That would be a correct slide for your carbine. It was used till the end of production on M1 carbines. The safety should be marked EW and I can only see a W stamped on it which by itself would not be correct. The hammer was made by White and is a war time replacement. That is an easy replacement with a type 3 Winchester hammer. If the safety is not marked EW then you will have a hard time finding a correct one as they are on the rare side. But if you take your time I think you can find one. Why do they think it's a fake if it's marked EW? I have not seen one faked yet....BUT that does not mean they are not out there.

Here's the best close up I could get. The E is very faint while the W is heavier, like it was stamped on a right tilted angle, which leans towards it being hand stamped vs machine stamped? I can't fathom that the maker of these would be stamping them by hand with a handheld die. The small tabs were most likely stamped out by machine and most likely marked at the same time . Mine almost looks like it was stamped by hand after it was assembled. It has finish wear so it's been used but then whoever filed the import mark off that barrel could have easily rubbed this down as well. I'll keep my eyes open for others and see what happens.
