    Default Gun Show Find

Today I went to the OGCA Show in Cleveland to help a friend find an M1903. It was my first time to that show since 1983. His goal was to find a good M1903 shooter. We found a very interesting rifle. It was a Remington M1903 "modified", SN 3,313,XXX with a barrel date of 12-42. Milled parts included: barrel bands, trigger guard, floor plate and follower. The butte plate was the stamped Remington. The top rear of the receiver had lightening cuts - for the 03a3 rear sight I think. I checked the MW and TE - both were 0.0. The bore was mint. The stock had its share of dings, but the correct markings were there with no rebuilding marks. The best part was he got it for $600.

He did well. But the presence of so many milled parts suggests that the rifle may have been overhauled or "restored" by a misinformed but well-meaning previous owner.

    Hope this helps.
