Thread: 1903 help

  1. Default 1903 help

I was offered a Remington 1903 Serial number 31238xx bbl is is dated 3/42
Stock is like new w/o any cartouches. Reciever is blued as is the bbl.
Bolt is marked R so I assume it is remington bolt.

The current owner knows less than I do, and that ain't much.
I am looking at it as a shooter and not a collector.
Can anyone here date the receiver?
Is it possible that the blue bbl is correct for the blue receiver?

Any help I can here is appreciated.
    Thanks

Barrel date matches the serial number. Receiver and barrel were originally parkerized.

Sounds like the stock was sanded. Is the stock full length, all military trim?

If your buying for a shooter, what is the condition of the bore?

    Can you post photos?

Actually a slight correction to my friend Mike, the receiver was serialized in June, 1942. Often, the barrel date was a little "behind" the serialized receiver. I agree, if you're getting it as a shooter, bore condition and headspace are paramount.

In all military form, Bore looks like new, no decent pics worth reposting
