Default My reproduction '03-A4-Now with pics!

[/IMG]Reproduction, faux, fake, forgery, copy...whatever! I have had this '03-A3 forever and it was sporterized before I was even old enough to shoot. I had it in a hunting/sporter set-up for years and loved it so much, I bought stock (Dupage?) barrel (Hart) and countless hardware pieces from Numerich and Sarco to build it back into something resembling the real thing. Then the Gibbs Rifle re-pop items were made known to me. I waited...and waited...but my scope and rings and base never left back-order nether world. So, I happened across the Weaver 330-M8 scope at a gun show. Snapped it up and found a Redfield Jr. base and what appeared to be correct rings for it. All for less than the Chinese stuff! I know the bolt handle is incorrect, but I think it looks great all things considered. Is it okay to shoot with that old scope? [IMG]

Why wouldn't it be ok to shoot with that scope?

I have one very similar, except I was able to find a real A4 bolt, for the price of $5.00. Seller thought it was a very badly done sporterized bolt.

A Lyman Alaskan shoots much better, but the Weaver works ok. About 3 inch groups at 100 yds.

I was afraid there might be something inside the scope that might break down or weaken with age and possibly fail under recoil.

A risk with ANY 70 year old scope ( or with any 70 yrear old anything ) . Could last a thousand rounds , could break on the next.
