    Default Early S&W Model 29's

I really enjoyed the article in the current "American Rifleman" about the early
Model 29's. So, I dug out my four inch version which is marked S193182 and
Model 29. The article stated that the serial numbers were mixed between the Model of 1955 and the Model 29. A guess on my part is that my gun was made before 1958. Anyone have a closer guess or info? TIA, George in NH

When I bought my last used 29,I called the factory and they gave me the manufacture date. They are nice people to deal with from my experience..I have been looking for a 4 " for a while now..The 6 1/2" are nice but want a 4" to go with my 4" mod 57....

The "Standard Catalog Of Smith & Wesson 3rd ED" lists 1958-1959 serial numbers as S182000 to S194499.
