    Default Bayonet help

I have a Long Branch 303 made in 1942. I wanted a bayonet to go with it and got the one in the pictures online. As you can see it has the frog, scabbard, and bayonet. The scabbard is marked 1943. I thought that the bayonet was from the same time frame (it does have the LB for Long Branch) but it has a 3 over a 77 on it as well. Does that mean March 1977? I did not think that they were still making them that late. Any info will be appreciated.

    I don't believe what's interpreted as 3 77 are Canadian markings. The "7's" aren't identical either.

They sure as heck were NOT making spike bayonets in 1977

At a rough guess, your bayonet was made sometime in 1942 and was replaced by the MkII* later that year

3 77 is likely some oddball unit mark. I agree with John Sukey on estimated production time.

I have had and seen a ton of these and the 3 77 is typically odd. Sometimes they just have numbers or letters stamped on them for no apparent reason.
