Thread: 8MM Mauser

  1. Default 8MM Mauser

    My father-in-law just gave me his 8MM mauser and it dont have very many markings on it sn is so light I cant make it out its like R00xx or B00xx its only other marking is it says Germany on the reciver Please help in Identifing my rifle. Thanks!

    Could be any one of several "Mauser" variations. The "GERMANY" mark is likely an "import" stamp but, in my experience, it doesn't mean that it was a German made gun. For example, my M38 Turk mausers are stamped with the generic "GERMAN 8MM". In some cases ID marks were worn off during arsenal refinishing. In other cases they were purposely removed or even purposely made with little more than the serial number stamping.

    AC There are many types of of 8mm Mausers out there, and p246 is right, photos would help immensely.

    Also, this should be in the Mauser section, Not here!
    More people will see it that might be able to answer your questions.
    With that ser nr it is not WW 1 or WW 2 German.
