    Default Modelo 1927 Sistema Colt Current Mkt Value?

    Hello 1911 enthusiasts,

    I appreciate your thoughts on a 1946-made Argentinian 1911A1. I'm considering it for purchase but at the $800 asking price, I'm unsure. I know that pictures are invaluable on a forum like this... Unfortunately, I can only describe it in the best detail I can recall since I don't yet own the piece.

    The finish is approximately 85% original "black oxide" blue;
    the barrel is still well-blued, as well, and displays the matching serial number perpendicular to the axis of the centerline;
    the bore is very crisp;
    the black plastic (bakelite?) grip panels show medium wear;
    all component parts are correct -hammer, trigger, thumb safety, grip safety, sights, (the front sight has been filed down, slightly);
    the slide-to-frame fit is tight; and
    the markings/crest/numbers are clearly struck (all serial numbers match, except magazine -also from '46).
    On the negative side:
    it is import-marked by CAI on the lower trigger guard;
    the lanyard loop is slightly bent; and
    one of the grip screws sits high (ill-fitting replacement?).

    It's a handsome gun. I would certainly shoot it a limited amount but would mainly enjoy it as a conversation piece.

    Thanks for your opinions!
    -Bill

    I was with you until you mentioned the CAI import markings. With that mark, the pistol is no longer a collectors item and is considered by most as a shooter grade pistol. For $800 you can certainly find many other pistols that are new and be better shooters all around. And if you are looking for a collectors piece that will appreciate in value, keep looking.

    I se them for sale at about $400.00 to $500.00 but that was before the panic buying started.

    I agree that $800 seems too high... I'll pass on it at that price.
    Thanks Duane & Joe.
