    Default M1922 barrel value

A friend has a M1922 barrel with 3- 42 barrel date. It has the uncrowned muzzle, slightly shorter length than pre war and appears to never have been screwed into a receiver. The bore is mint. He is thinking of selling it and wanted to know what it was worth. I told him probably in the $150 to $200 range but that was just my best guess. Is that about right, too high or too low?

Don't know the price, but I would be interested in it when he desides on a price.

A guy that does the local shows has had an NOS .22 Springfield barrel with a late 30's date (IIRC) barrel sitting on his table for $300 for quite a while now.

EDIT, my mistake, I saw it again last weekend and he has it for sale for $350.

I bought an M2 Rifle barrel a few years ago. Turned out it had an oval shaped chamber. Neither I nor the gunsmith who installed it in my rifle noticed the defective chamber until it was in the rifle. I found a person who wanted to use it for making a .22 Hornet so got part of my investment back. It seems like I paid $130.00 for it but that is not an indication of today's values

Thanks for the information Herschel. I will try to check for that for him with a precise dial mic.

oval chamber could be drilled out, sleeved and rechambered, but the value would be less after it is fixed. If the chamber is defective I would be interested. Most new M2 barrels go for between 250-300

I talked to him and he sold the barrel last week. He said he got $200 for it. Buyer said his rifle had the original barrel cut back about two inches.
