  1. Default Custom 1903 Sporters built by "Sportsman Shop", Greeley,Colorado Pachmayr Custom Pad

I recently acquired a nicely done 1903 Sporter that appears to be a product of a gunshop in Greeley, Colorado, probably 50's to 60's vintage. It is in a sporter stock with the thin, brown rubber Pachmayr Custom buttpad marked "Sportsman Shop Greeley, Colorado". Reblued all matching 1920's M1903 barreled action, rear sight collar removed, front edge of reciever ring rounded, Redfield reciever sight installed. Stock is a nice, straight combed period sporter, with white diamond inlays with a black dot in the center, on both sides of the butt and action.

For them to have paid the makers of the rubber recoil pad - Pachmayr - for a Custom Mold with their own name on it would indicate that they sporterized a LOT of rifles.

Does anyone else have a 1903 Sporter with this pad? Or know anything about the "Sportsman Shop" in Greeley Colorado from years ago? An Internet search turned up nothing, so they must have been gone for a while. Thanks in advance for any info. CC
