Default Help with gun value...Colt detective special

Colt Detective Special model#D1426...ser.# 7860xx, 38special. Pistol is nickel plated with pearl handles. The gun was refurbished by the Colt factory to include renickeling and brought up to factory specifications! Has never been shot since returned from the factory and has all factory paperwork still in Colt box just like it was returned from Colt....I have had dealers tell me it would be valued as new and dealers tell me it was the same as a used gun....I don't know... gun is not for sale it was my father's [deceased] and left to my firstborn son as a heirloom...any and all help would be appreciated....Thanks BT

it is far better that the factory did the refinish/re-tune, but it absolutely does not have the same value to collectors as an original finish pistol... prolly split it between org exc cond & good....just my $.02 worth
