  1. Default New Krag Carbine?

Just picked up a Krag Carbine. Date is 1898. Serial # is 219511. Oddly enough the last "1" looks like its a slightly different font and stamped deeper and wider. It has what appears to be 1896 Handguard and a unmarked carbine stock without any allowances for a sling of any sort. The wood has no cartouche however it does have a R.D.B. just behind the trigger guard before where the Circled "P" would be. Any Ideas.

    Any Help would be nice.

Sorry, but you just picked up a cut-off Krag rifle. The Model 1898 carbines (of which just 5000 were made) only occur between approx. 112000-135000. A carbine in the range you stated would be have to be marked Model 1899. A very common mistake, unfortunately, but one aided and abetted by eager sellers who will tell a prospective buyer anything to sell them what is considered to be a scarce, if not rare, gun. Am assuming stock is the 32" variety? Initials are actually RDR. Again, sorry - if you paid a premium price you might want to see if the buyer will give you a refund.

That will be RDR for RD Roper. Can you post photos?
