Opinions on 1915 Colt

Looking for some expert opinions on the following 1915 Colt. Anything stand out as out of place, incorrect or not original. Thanks in advance! Link below

Gotta love those hammers. Great serial number. My 1915 Colt commercial has British proofs on it. Can't comment on the barrel ...my stocks have the same checkering count between diamonds - 15.

Looks like a very nice pistol. It is in the serial number range where either a Horizontal HP or a Vertical HP barrel would be correct.

The slide does have a bit of a color difference from the frame but I'm not sure if it's enough to be of concern. Usually if there is too much difference, one would suspect that it may have been replaced sometime. A closer hands on inspection would be necessary to know for sure.

Great observation Duane on the color difference. Didn't notice it until you mentioned it. Does it matter that the the color of the spring guide area on the front of the slide has closer matching color to the frame or does it not? It is on Joe Salters site under "new arrivals" where you can blow up pictures. I was also trying to match any consistent wear patterns but just don't have a good enough eye on these pistols. I have it hold but may decide to pass depending on the feedback i get here. Appreciate any input.

The 1915 Navy pistols in the 109501-110000 range have both horizontal and vertical P H barrels. That's where I think the change occurred. The 111000 range may be a little late for a horizontal P H barrel, but well within the range for the possibility of the earlier style marking to still show up. Only a firsthand inspection might determine of the barrel is original. I think slides on most pistols that were carried show more age, wear and discoloration due to more contact with the holster. Again, a firsthand inspection would be required to make an informed decision about wear patterns and matching markings on slides, receivers and barrels.

In other words, before you sink some big bucks into it, go to his shop & handle it.... do a thorough inspection..... then if it hits you right, buy it. Cash talks.......
