Thread: M1a1 question

  1. Default M1a1 question

I understand that some M1a1 carbines were rebuilt with European replacement stocks/ wood. What do these stocks look like? How are they marked? Were they USGI approved? Any info on this subject is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They were made using European hardwoods and are similar to a USGI stock in construction. As far as I can tell there are no markings on them at all. Even USGI replacement stocks were marked. While it's still a USGI carbine the stock if original is still part of the total over all value so I would expect those with replacement stocks from Europe would be a bit lower in value and only because many people would see the replacement stock as not being USGI.
