  1. Default Warner Swasey telescopic sight mounting bracket screws

Good evening. I am looking for a set of the three screws for a Warner Swasey mount.

About seven years ago I picked up a Springfield M1903 barrelled action from ODCMP. The receiver was drilled for the WS (later plugged). The rifle (by serial number - 352,988) is listed in Canfield's "03 Service Rifle" as being assigned to the 4th Infantry as a WS Model 1908 equiped sniper rilfe in 1910. The WS M1908 I have scope is serial numbered to a rifle only 150 away.

Given that the barrell (SA 04-09) appears to be orginal it seemed a good canidate for restoration. You'd be amazed at the number of screws, pins, etc that go into a M1903. Anyway, I am down to finding these last three screws to complete the rebuild. I'd appreciate any advice/direction.

You can find reproduction screws from Hayes.

If you don't mind, what is the serial number of your scope? The reason I ask is that I keep a serial number database of the rifles and scopes, with the hope of matching owners of rifles and owners of matching scopes. For instance, I can tell you who used to own your rifle and the serial number of the M1908 scope that used to be on your rifle.

Feel free to email me. Thanks.

I talked with Hayes a number of times. Saddly he has been out of the screws for a while. With any luck the machinist that made his last batch can be coaxed into producing some more sets.

According to the chart in the back of Confield's "03 Springfield Service Rifle" my M1903 (352,988) was fitted with an M1908 WS with the number 428. The WS M1908 I've got is number 218. It is "FOR RIFLE NO. 352,843". Any and all additional information you may have would be appreciated. I know building these databases are labors of toil, tears and work.

Be careful of the dimensions in Brophy's book, the numbers are off.
