    Default Dahlgren Knife Bayonet

I have a 1863 Dahlgren Bayonet and need some help on telling if it is real or a repro. Has all the markings as ones that I could find on the internet and shows use but are there any easy wats to tell if it is real. Thanks for any help I can get. Jeff

Here's some comparisons between real and fake-

Note differences in the spring retaining screw in the handle and lettering styles on the blades.

GREAT link, JB. The repro's have been around long enough they are starting to get enough age patina that they are harder and harder to tell from the real ones.

Thanks for the help, Arizona knives made this one, almost exactly like the pictures. Do you have any idea what it might be worth? Good to very good condition.

Current reproductions sell for around $75.
