    Default Short range dry fire target

    I'm completely aware that this will be a re-invention of the wheel for some....but I thought I'd share with other new shooters like me.

    When doing dry fire practice, I use a post-it on the wall for aiming. The issue is that the range is so close that it looks too "sharp" or in-focus, even when maintaing primary focus on the front post. I've found that by making the bull an asterisk instead of a full circle, it helps blur the edge like an SR looks at 200.

    Edit:
    For what it is worth, my math shows the following close range target sizes

    7yd=.46in dia
    8yd=.52in dia
    9yd=.59in dia
    10yd=.65in dia

    I use a 3/4" target paster at about 12' on a Venetian mini blind louver.

    What heights do you use for standing, sitting, and prone?

    I've heard and years ago used a penny taped to the wall at a certain distance (forget which) as close to a standard bullseye. Probably about 25-30 feet.

    I use about 62" for standing, 22, sitting, 16 prone.

    A penny would be really good for 30 ft. A dime is almost perfect, but a little shiney. I like the sticky note because it almost looks like a target board.
