    Default What are these markings?

Looks like an "R" inside a "W". On my K98k byf44 k block. On a number of parts. I show pics of two of them.

I found the answer to question. On another forum, I was referred to Mauserguns.com. After some searching here is what I found:
A number of parts are marked with a very hard to see interlaced “WR” mark. This mark is on original WWII German production parts. Many machined parts manufactured by Mauser, including those for the K98k, are found stamped with an interlaced “WR”. This mark has been observed on late war parts often not having a waffenamt mark. According to Prof. Dr. Rolf Gminder, a former managing director at Mauser, the stamping represents “Werksrevision”, a “Factory Proof or [Final] Audit]”. Simply put, as a result of new tolerance allowances, engineering dimensional features, process heat treating times/temperatures, etc., parts were marked to assure that these conformed to the latest "factory revision".
