Some rifles in that range were sold as receivers. Most of the rifles being built in that era were NM or Sporters. The 12-18 barrel is much too early to be original to the rifle UNLESS Springfield...
Anyone have a picture of a M1903 one piece firing pin?
Does the bolt still have the firing pin with the two points/tips?
Not listed in the SRS records, but could be a 1920 0r 1921 NM rifle. If it was, it has been drastically altered from the NM configuration.
Thanks. That was what I had hoped since the only carbine I kept was a very late Winchester.
Which manufacturer was a BW marked carbine magazine intended for?
It is a NRA Sporter. The records are wrong.
Does the front of the receiver ring have a slight radius?
If the front of the receiver ring is rounded instead of sharp, and the rear of the barrel does not have the rear sight fixed base pin detent, it is and was built as a NRA Sporter.
Dick,
Thanks for the reply. It's not in my area of interest. I was just trying to find some info on it before putting it up for sale.

I won a cartridge box at an auction and need help identifying it. I came with 16 Spencer 56 caliber rounds. It looks "home made" but is well made. It is about the same size as a McKeever pouch, but...
The "crispiest" M1896 that I have ever seen. I agree with Dick.
Sorry...no hit. Here are the closest:
20144 60A 1865 CO A Loudoun County Rangers
20561 60A 1864 CO I 3rd MICH Vol Cav
Looks like it was probably a rifle:
8455496R 98 CO I 1ST ND VOL INF
8455796R 98 CO F 4TH ILL VOL INF
84560 96R 98 CO F 4TH ILL VOL INF
84565 96R 99 CO E 5TH...
Probably easier and cheaper to restore the M1903-A3, but the SA would be worth more when completed.
Could have been built as a M1903A1 military rifle. They are very scarce as I don't think I have ever seen one. The proof P is in the correct place, and the cartouche ( SA/SPG ) could have been sanded...
I have sent you an email
I have one that is broken on the bottom at the toe. Only problem is that it is on a gun.....and a replacement is $65.00. I'm sure that you don't want to spend that much, but, let me know if you do.
Thanks
As the title states......is the M1895 Chilean Mauser rifle considered to be safe when firing the standard 7X57 ammo that is available from commercial sources such as Remington or Winchester? I picked...
That's the way they all should have been made because they WERE supposed to be training rifles.
Thanks
