That would be awesome!
Would the carbine happen to be a side-lever 1843 by any chance?

Thanks gentlemen - and happy to take other detail shots to the extent that my camera phone is able, just let me know if there's something you're interested to see.
Well gentlemen, after some time collecting in the 15th to 17th centuries I'm finally back on the board with a 19th century American piece that ya'll might find interesting. I've been stalking...
Excellent news, just signed up.
I?ll take 1000!
In seriousness, do we know if ?new? means those wonderful unissued late 1884s (i.e. the pristine 1889 cartouched guns floating around) or something else?
Larger photos would be very beneficial. From what I believe I can see, it indeed appears to be an 1870 receiver. However, the marking you describe on the block is a bit confusing. The earliest...
As long as you get it vetted or understand what you're looking for, I wouldn't worry too much about 'jumping in the deep end.' My current impression of the market is that it is pretty hot for more...
Thanks gentlemen! I admit I'm pleased with this one. Will have to try and get it some companions of like vintage.
Thank you sir!

Greetings all,
Well, earlier this month I had a run of bad luck where I lost out on two early 15th century tiller hand-cannons and a matchlock allegedly from the Emden arsenal. So with that money...
good to know, thanks!
No, sorry - I meant it being just one serial number away from an SRS hit.

By itself, just a somewhat high-priced 84 cadet?but I?ve been hunting for one of the rifles from my alma mater and this one is not only right in the middle...
Very interesting! Not to worry, I had checked the sources and satisfied myself that the barrel band was likely just fine sans swivel.
And the stock is definitely going to have a good oiling in...
Ha! Well, another step in the plan, then - adding the the swivel, AND adding the little wood dimples to accompany it!
Well, some of ya'll were kind enough to follow along my previous carbine thread - http://www.jouster2.com/forums/showthread.php?72030-The-quest-for-a-carbine-GB-auctions - so it's time for an update!...
That seller always has a lot of very nice weapons up for sale, with a ton of pictures and the listing description printed up on official-looking letterhead that seems intended to evoke the sort of...
Well, I'd been hunting for the start of my Civil War-era collection for awhile...almost made the mistake of jumping too early, as ya'll know from my prior post:...
True enough! Well, the 1855 came in and it looks almost too good to be true. I've been over and over it, with the Willyard book, and it *seems* alright. Gonna post up some pics in the black powder...
Hah, I'm already trying to figure out how to go about whittling down the possibilities to something reasonably attainable! I'm figuring on getting Springfields for the 61s and 63/4...am not sure if...
So sorry to hear about your bout with illness - hoping you recover completely!
Thank you gentlemen! I was pleased to finally run across this one.
I'll definitely keep my eyes open! Although, as I'm traveling back in time, I've got an M1855 on the way - really excited...
Finally found a decent-looking 1870 rifle that didn't seem exorbitantly overpriced on Gunbroker. Those 1870s are kinda few and far between - there really are lots more 1866s and 1868s out there.
