Anyone familiar with .30 carbine ammo with a "7.62X33 WMN 59". Manufacture? Corrosive?
Thanks
Ed
A friend has acquired a few rounds (from a collection) of carbine ammo with the head stamp "7.62X33 WMN 59". Are any of you familiar with this?
I am thanking you.
Ed
Thanks. Just recently looked at a HRA mix-master and it did have a date. I was unsure if it was a IHC stock or not.
Ed
Are IHC stocks the only ones with a Julian date, or are the HRA stocks also dated?
Ed
Okay. Must be one of those optical delusions. I'm at a loss as to your problem.
Ed
No offense meant, but is that 7.5 Swiss brass? I ask because it appears that the shoulders are blown out round and necks are blown off straight forward?
Just sayin'.

goo;
Latest issue of GCA has an article on the M1D. That article claims the clamp-on cone flash suppressor caused accuracy problems for the M1. FWIW.
Ed
Yes, goo. I was 4F twice. Once in '68 for weight and BP, and in '72 because of a kinda deformed elbow from a childhood break. Oh, well I tried. Hell, I couldn't even get in the freakin' USAF!
Ed
goo;
M1-C has a scope mount attached to left side of receiver, not on rear of barrel.
Ed
I think it looks like the finish wearing off the high spots of the tooling marks. I wouldn't be concerned about it.
Ed
Aww....come on Dan. That was such a long time ago....right? (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Sir;
Thank you for the info! Glad that the slide is correct. Had always assumed that the stock was a replacement installed at Underwood during their post war rebuild contract.
Thanks again!
Ed
Sir;
I have a (more than once) rebuilt Underwood carbine that wears an M2 stock w/large .U. on left of butt. All other parts other than the slide are Underwood marked. While searching for a...
I must correct myself. Local VFW Commander showed me the blanks that they are now being sent for their M1's. They are the star crimped variety and are identical to the old grenade launching...
I use them, too. No different than any other straight wall pistol type case dies. However, you have to lube cases. Also taper crimp.
Ed
Yup. Ceremonial blanks. They might be okay to reload? But I WOULD NOT trust them, personally. There is too much good '06 brass out there to take a chance.
Ed
Star crimped blanks were grenade launching cartridges. Plain "salute" blanks have an annular neck crimp to secure a red card wad. Can you post a picture of the brass you are working with?
Ed
Your description of that crimp makes me think that what you have is fired blank brass. Blanks were thought to be loaded with reject or sub-standard cases. Maybe someone else will chime in.
Ed
I sometimes gets my "here" and my "hear" miscombobulated. sp?
Ed
The clips would indicate .303 British and maybe 7.62 Russian?
Ed
Wow! That is almost pristine.
Ed
Looks like a good one. Love the tunes!
