As Dick said below, it is showing how it looks after the excess wood was taken off, before staining. All I used was a utility knife and a dovetail saw, and a little bit of sandpaper.

Taking Dick Hosmer's suggestion about a M96R hand guard, I was able to make a M96C hand guard for my M98C carbine. I tracked down a M96R hand guard from an friend. It had some damage under the front...
Interesting, I never thought of that. Converting one would be no problem for me since my profession for the last 35 years has been 18th and 19th furniture restoration and reproductions. Still, most...
Would anyone have an idea were to find a hand guard for a Krag carbine 1896 sight? I have a nice M1898 carbine that the hand guard was badly damaged.
The place in Georgia that makes decent repro's...
Picked up the carbine this weekend. I guess it's a M1898 up-graded to a M1899? Very nice bore. Metal overall pretty decent. Stock has been lightly sanded. Even came with the rods and oiler.
Unfortunately can't post pictures, he does not own a digital camera or have a computer just a land line phone,(old guy). Gave me a call this morning about a price, $800.00. I'll ask about the hand...
A friend has a Krag carbine he will be selling and I may be interested.
Says it's a M1898. Serial number is 125,7xx, don't remember the last two numbers. It's in a nice M1899 carbine stock. Rear...
I have an 1873 rifle in the 46,000 serial range. The breach is marked MASS, I assume for the Massachusetts National Guard. Thinking of selling the rifle. Does the marking add a little value to the...
Thanks for the info.
Hi,
Could someone do an SRS check on serial number 46386.
Also were the rear sights riveted in place instead of using screws on the 1873's?
Thanks.
Thank You.
Could I get a SRS check on these 2 1911a1's

Hi,
Any information on a Colt 1911 Ser.# 20526.
Thanks.
They have moved to Aaronsburg, PA a few years ago, but still have the above phone number. Have a friend that had them make a Win Model 54 carbine stock. It was supposed to be drop in condition. I had...
So could the large 7 branded on the left side of the stock, as on the above rifle and mine maybe be an Infantry number? Thanks.
I have the exact same markings on my 1888 as rockisle1903's rifle above. The only difference is under the small 7 mine is stamped 872 and the comb is painted I 72. Was wondering what these stand...
Thanks for the info.
Also looks like the serial number on the barrel was hand etched. Stylistically, it does not match the number on the receiver.
Was wondering what the correct tools are, that fit into the butt stock of a M1888 Trapdoor. Thanks.
Still looking for that stock? Send me a PM.
OK, dumb question, what's a "stock-crawler"? Thanks.
Give Empire Gun Shop, Danville Pa. a call, no web site. They usually have a lot of older commercial parts.
Phone, (570) 275-5482
A little "Salty" in the price.
Maybe a slight premium over a typical "92" conversion, but $6000. I don't think so.
