I would be pretty sure that the date code is F on Chaz's rifle. The F used by Birmingham is weirdly stylized making it difficult to discern. I've yet to see anything other than F under the op rod,...

The square end type 1 lock bar is legitimate.
I have seen the square end type 1 on only six original rifles so far.
Four are March '42, one Feb. '42, and one Oct. '42.
