Hi Dick I have one. Message sent
Looking at past sales on Ebay between $45 to $80.
Please let me know the complete serial number of the 03A3 with the Z. I have 2 03A3's with Z that are not A4 snipers. If you do not want to post it here please send me a PM.
Thank you
Thank you Dick for your help. The more I look at this rifle it looks more like a pieced together Trapdoor. And is not a short rifle. Posting pictures will be a little while.
I have a 50-70 cadet and this rifle is shorter than the cadet by 1 inch at the muzzle and at the nose cap. The short rifle has the standard butt plate and the trigger guard with the sling swivel.
Ok, I know the cadet rifle is about 3 inches shorter than the standard Trapdoor. But what is the difference with the cadet and a short rifle in 50-70?
Go to Rock Island Auction and watch their auctions for ones that are a good match for yours. Than save the URL link for future reference and price. Short of paying some one to appraise your...
That is a great job
Now that rear sight set up is what I have been looking for. Would you make another for me??
I have now seen 4 or so Trapdoors with 1883 dated locks, not 1873. I am pretty sure that Springfield did not make them, but who did and why date them 1883 or even at all.
Is the butt plate smooth or is there a sliding door? Can you post a picture of the front of the stock at the curve.
If you still need a hand guard for the 1896 sight contact me. I have an original hand guard. As noted, these are not cheap.
Pictures of the right and left sides showing the full length of the rifle. Serial number will also help.
Both have 1901 sights, no modifications to the rifles. Standard original military configuration. No cracks in the stock, some handling marks. Metal all looks good.I know pictures would help but I...
I have a chance to buy consecutive s/n Krags. They are M1898. Both are in good condition and are used. I know that being consecutive s/n do bring a premium. But how much would you estimate the...
Thanks than is another model stock. It has the spoon in the barrel channel and no provision for the cleaning rod retainer in the front of the barrel channel.
I know the 50-70 Trapdoor stock has a flat on the left side. Did Springfield change the profile later on to one more along the lines of the 45-70 on the left or were they all produced with the flat?
As far as the cabinet, check with your local libraries, They may have one or more wood card holders cabinets available.
I do not even have a facebook account and refuse to get one.
It looks like a RB stock and has gone through several rebuilds. Nice that it survived this long.
Well that makes sense. The small letters than are more likely manufactures applied in lieu of inspector stamps. Yes the "US" does vary in size and I have seen several double stamped "US".
I have noticed that some Trapdoor bayonet have beside US stamped on them a small letter below the US. I have seen S, J, A, and T. I cannot find any reference to the single letter.
Is it an...
How can one delete their own posting? I have several that have run their course and would be happy to delete them. This may not solve the total problem but would help.
the bore is bright. The exterior metal (barrel and receiver) are a uniform patina.
If the room is vented for A/C and heat, than get a good dehumidifier that can be programed. You will need to run a drain line for dehumidifier.
If I remember the barrel was number 546 and the receiver was 750. The finish on the barrel and receiver is the same. I did not see and cartouches.
