Thompson Center T17 Black Powder bore SOLVENT.
This stuff is environmentally safe and works great IMO.

I can shoot 100 BP rds with 500 gr bullets with no shoulder issues. I put a customized butt cover over it with a cut-down recoil pad. Works great!
You can barely see the recoil pad in this picture....

1.5 hrs of dinking around getting everything set up so I didn't crush a $1.80 shell case. I only had 20! :)
Only made one. Now that I have the dies set up, downhill tomorrow.

Dad (now 85) has a 95% or better condition Winchester .45-75 1876 Sport model that he's had since he was 10 years old. Him being an ex-101st Airborne Sargent (Korean Conflict) needless to say this...

$550 off Win Collectors is "Original price" as in 1983. I thought that is how it's read....
These are selling prices when they were released! ...

I paid $129 more for it 33 years later. ($600 in 1983) And I'm good with that.

"Blue Book of Gun Values" has it listed at $895-100% condition (with box and unfired)
"Gun Digest" 20-14 has it...

Never fired (until me, I have a no virgins policy). No box, no real collector value (19,999 made) $729.00.
Now I have a new cartridge to load for, 38-55. :)

FWIW, I'm in the 245XXX range and mine was shipped in late 1880's to the Oregon Militia in 1890 which eventually became the Oregon National Guard in 1903.

Just an FYI, all 5 sets sold pretty quickly.
2 reports back, both shooters settled on the .350 sight (which actually calipers out at .343 due to the thickness of the EDM wire that cuts the titanium....

Understand that these rifles were meant to start at 200 yds if using the Buffington sight, which yours should have.
If the buffington was laid flat, it was battle sights, meaning anything under 200...

I have shot over 1000 rounds since 2014 with smokeless low pressure loads in my old trapdoor. Just recently started BP loads. No issues whatsoever and the pressure is well under 18,000 with smokeless...

There is no doubt that they can only get so much Goex into the case so this should be a safe load to shoot. Note that the Carbine was meant to shoot those 350gr bullets what I've been told.
