I let a few 70 grains of Goex FF under a 405 Lee HB bullet off but mostly stick with 65 grains in my 1873 and it shoots really well.

What the RCMP have last said he had two long guns and one handgun that were illegal from the USA and one handgun sourced from Canada. What they are not saying is what those two long guns and handgun...
Unfortunately we will probably be very close to what New Zealand has become here in Canada. The progressives have won again and are promising sweeping gun bans and confiscations announced later this...
I can’t answer that as I have never changed them. One thing I had to do with mine was really give it a good cleaning as there was I think cosmoline or some other thick shipping grease everywhere....
I have a SAM military enhanced in 9mm and it’s been a solid gun. Have put 1000’s of rounds through it with no issues other than having to tweak it so brass wasn’t hitting my face.
And people wonder why animals either eat or abandon their young when they know something is wrong with them.
I tried pretty much everything except mercury. The carburetor cleaner really worked well as chunks of lead started coming out when using it. Scoped the barrel and it’s about as clean as the day it...
Did that as well. The best I used was what Koba49 used which is carburetor cleaner.
Working on it. Just waiting for the rest of what I need from Wolf to start casting for the first time.
After wearing out four .50 caliber brushes and about a 1000 strokes I think I got all the lead and what appeared to be cosmoline out of the barrel. Slugged the bore and had a local gun builders...
Really nice collection you have. Do you shoot all or some of them?
One other thing I would like advise on is what would be the best to lubricate the lock assembly with? Oil or light grease?
I have it disassembled except haven’t gotten brave enough to seperate the...
This trapdoor has sat in a closet back home in the farm house for the last 45 years. At that time I loaded some trapdoor loads with a Lee loader using smokeless powder and jacketed 405 grain bullets....
This stock is no where near as dark as a lot I’ve seen. Still working on getting the last of the lead out of the barrel. Will start on the stock in the next couple weeks.
Thanks for all the replies.
There really isn’t any patina on the wood. Only stocks I have refinished are newer ones. Used lacquer thinner and then tru oil.
I figured if I took it down to the wood with lacquer thinner then...
Been trying to find information on the right way to clean and recoil this trapdoor stock but not finding much. The only info I’ve been able to find is on the video by the Duelist on full30. He used...
I have one and would never be without it. Majority of handgun shooting I do is at an indoor range so it’s about the only one that will work. Had some issues with the first software for iPhone but...
It looks like the side plate may have been off before but the trigger guard came out perfect. Used Koba49 YouTube video to disassemble it and everything went smooth.
These are pictures of my 1873 trapdoor. I want to clean and oil it and have been told so many different ways and with some products I’ve never heard of. I tried one method on the stock just behind...
I did some looking but so far nothing. When I get back home I will do more checking as well as my daughter. Really appreciate the information.
My wife and I are on holidays and my daughter has everything at her place as she is the one doing the family research. Is there anyway to try and trace my grandfathers military records if in fact he...
Thank you so much Tom and no my handle has nothing to do with the ocean or plants. I’m a refrigeration mechanic. We have been tracing our family and this gun belonged to my grandfather. Very...
Serial number is 194210. It’s been in our family a very long time.
I have been through many forums looking for trapdoor information and found this one. I finally got my grandfathers 1882- 1873 trapdoor that has been in our family for a very long time. I’m a...
