I have a dozen or so 03 and A3 rifles, most with their original barrels with excellent bores, and I would love to sell any of them for $500.

I have had many barrels installed by my gunsmith, and in most, if not all cases, the blank is about 27 inches long, and cut to finish length and crowned by the gunsmith. Look again at your written...
I have an A3 modified to A4 configuration, was lucky to get a real A4 bolt. I have both Weaver and Alaskan scopes, find the Alaskan scope light years ahead of the Weaver.
Why wouldn't it be ok to shoot with that scope?
I have one very similar, except I was able to find a real A4 bolt, for the price of $5.00. Seller thought it was a very badly done sporterized...
I had a model 14 and a Remington model 8, both in .30 Rem. As far as I know, nobody has loaded the ammo for years. However, any decent sized gun show will have a dealer who sells older ammo, and the...
I have a 1.4 mil range 03 action, on which I installed a barrel.
Shot fine at the range, until I tried to load the magazine. About every other round popped out rather than feeding. Swapped the SA...
The "double" bayonet adaptor is common on mausers from Spain and some South American countries. Allows the use of an older bayonet, which was apparently available in quantity.
I don't load for the 7mm mag, but many manuals suggest RL19, and almost all of them like the 4350 powders. H4350 is my favorite for many of the medium rounds, only because it is supposedly less...
I would like to know the page and which manual contains that. I have been reloading for 50 years and never heard that one. As for the first shot out of a clean barrel, that is something which is...
I have one 03 action, very high S/N, which feeds like this. I tried an A3 follower, and it corrected the problem.
If you can engage the safety while pulling back slightly on the cocking piece, then the problem is likely as described above. This is a common problem, usually remedied by replacement of the sear.
I believe you do measure BP by weight,, then measure the modern substitutes by equivalent volume.
You hit the nail on the head. Most of the recorded failures were caused by excessive temperature during the forging process. There was no temperature measuring capability, color of the metal was the...
I bought one a few years ago at a gun auction for about 350.00. It was in original box, no indication of having been used. Considering that the seller paid a fee of 15-25% to the auction, I think...
I would think that 350 might be a little steep in that condition. I paid 350 for what was advertised as an "NRA" carbine, bore in excellent condition, all carbine parts except sights, and very good...
Several firms, such as Buffalo Arms, make obsolete cases from readily available ones, and either sell the cases for reloading, or load and sell ammo. Their stuff is usually good, and not as expensive...
Unless the barrel was intended for an 03or 03A3 it won't fit. Same with Mauser, the threads are unique to the gun. Any competent gunsmith can cut the proper threads
in a blank, but in most cases,...
Just the name, .17 Super Magnum, sounds strange to me.
By the way, 5mm Rem ammo is being made now.
Any safe load should be safe in your rifle, assuming nobody has done anything to it which would render it unsafe. 03 is not the strongest rifle, but surely it is safe for any normal load.
Most likely the same reason they make titanium (lightweight) strikers for Mausers, they travel faster, and thereby reduce lock time.
I have bought sights from him. Somewhere here I have his business card, but it may be hard to find since I recently moved. If I can find it, I will send you the phone number.
I have never fired a 7mm mag, but have some experience with the others mentioned. For years, my deer rifle has been an Ackley version of the .35 Whelen, and I cannot think of a better all round...
I had a model 38 with an original bent bolt, and it did not look anything like this bolt.
I rely on the sniff test. I have never had powder go bad, although saw a bad can of some IMR powder at an auction. Red dust and a strange oder.
I have a one pound can of black powder, hand written...
While I would agree that the scant stock is not very attractive, it is way more desirable as a shooter than is the older straight stock.
