The nose is .3095 ahead of the front band tapering to .300. I'm seating to 3.272 COL. The leader such as it is engraved lightly upon closing of the bolt but usually allows withdrawal. This is in...
I could not resist posting for us cast bullet shooters. My Enfields plop .3105 200-gr 311299s into great groups. In August fired a 10-round 300-yd group into a certified 3.573 group with my older...
Bore, boor, what difference does it make?
Any purchase online is fraught with peril. I bought a rifle years ago (as a collectible...) with the bore described as "bright". It was bright alright,...
Jacketed or cast? Cast sized to the throat should shoot half that size if not better.
I just found a mint, uninstalled 5-groove Winchester 1-19 barrel. A 95-yr old virgin. The rifling cutter marks are visible, the lands razor sharp. It's going on a D&T'd Winchester action for a...
I've been using the 30-06 collet die adjusted so that the neck just barely holds my .311 projectiles. Basically just a very tight slip fit. YMMV, because the major impediment is my eyesight since...
Metal is OK, no pitting. I'm gonna sleep on it for a week or two.
By chance does the serial number 352482 register a hit?
I borrowed a brush with hoppes and took a close look. the throat and lands ahead of the throat are worn but bright. The lands from the bore...
Hmmm....thanks. looks like id better pass. Unless you want it, Jon.
Local show has 99 carbine with C front sight blade no rear sight sanded stock. Is it worth $400? Bore worn butt bright.
Thanks.
First time over on this forum from the Krag side. Picked up a sportered 1917 last week with a DT trigger. Some folks seem to have issues with them, but I've got mine set at 1 lb and it passes the...
I too have had those days when a 5-round group falls into 1 MOA or less, only to find that 10 of the same load jumps it out to 2MOA or more. That is why the CBA military matches run 10-round...
480 rounds. $600 Not mine!

Wow! That is quite an impressive setup! How will the mass of that forward lens react under recoil?
Now aren't you ashamed of not leaving that for some more deserving soul? Like me!! Well done in my opinion and I would have done likewise.
Nice 1899 carbine with correct 22" bbl and front sight today. Surrre was purdy - completely refinished bright blue with receiver sight and refinished stock complete with pad. Sigh.....
You might want to pad the sides with steel shim to avoid marring the sight base.
California, eh? Have to wait or did you get to use your C&R? Nice purchase that you won't regret. Now where are the Pics!!??
Nice grouping! Now you just have to do it with 10!
Paying a little over going rate for an honest example in that shape, especially one you have hands and eyes on, will never be a decision to regret.
.312 or .314 bands, 240 grains. Should fit the most generous of Krag throats. Over at Castb**lits.gunloads.com. One mold up for trade on the swap/sell forum.
That's only 2400 bullets; what are you going to do with the rest if the summer? Looking forward to a report!
Myself, cast about 170 of the 311299 and another 160 or so of 311284 yesterday. The...

I wonder what the Colonel would have thought of this iteration of his scout rifle? I think it looks better than my GSR. Now I'm on the hunt for a Krag that is beyond redemption.
