I have a M97 trench "WB" stock, 4 row heat shield, 946,28X. Funny to have two in the same configuration only 100 serial numbers apart.

It's a World War I trench gun that the bayonet adapter has been cut down and lug ground off. Stock is not original.
Did it have choke markings?
A skeet gun with a "CYL" choke?
I would say it left the factory as a riot gun, and cutts put on after military service.

Has anybody seen a US Navy marked shotgun without the US and bomb? If so would that be a procurement piece, and not under contract? TIA
